Environmental Impact and Sustainability
With an increase in the demand for textiles from an ever increasing population, there is growing concern for environmental issues ranging from the supply of fibres and the energy costs of production through to end of life management.
We have specific interests in three key areas;
- natural fibres from non food crops including their agronomy and fibre extraction
- enzyme applications to reduce chemical processing
- reuse, recycling, and remanufacture of textiles and clothing
All of these have direct application to both the fashion and clothing industry and to the technical textiles sector where performance is important.
